Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Peachtree Street Northwest/Southwest and Northeast/Southeast run parallel to each other through Midtown, and many of Atlanta’s premier shopping, dining, nightlife, and entertainment options are located on these streets or those adjacent to them. Colony Square features great restaurants, with many offering outdoor dining surrounding open space with frequent live entertainment. Sophisticated Persian restaurant Rumi’s Kitchen is one such restaurant, serving flavorful food within a large patio dining area. Ecco Midtown on 7th Street is an award-winning eatery with an ever-changing menu of European-inspired seasonal dishes. James Beard award-winning chef Hugh Acheson’s acclaimed Empire State South offers delectable elevated Southern cuisine in a stylish space with an outdoor bocce court. Located just a few blocks east of Peachtree Street Northeast is Bon Ton, which fuses Louisianan and Vietnamese-style cooking to craft unforgettable boiled and fried seafood.

Things to Do

Midtown is Atlanta’s heart of the arts, home to world-class cultural institutions such as the Woodruff Arts Center. Woodruff’s facilities include the Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre, which stages wide-ranging plays and performances; High Art Museum, one of the world’s most visited art galleries, with a collection spanning many countries and periods; and the Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Other standout cultural venues include the Fox Theatre, a lavish 1920s movie palace that now hosts Broadway shows, touring musicians, and performances from the Atlanta Ballet. Another unique attraction is the Center for Puppetry Arts, which has a collection that includes around 700 Jim Henson puppets from iconic TV shows The Muppets, Sesame Street, and Fraggle Rock.

Piedmont Park is one of Atlanta’s largest urban parks. Miles of walking and jogging trails run through this scenic green space, where attractions include a swimming pool with jets shooting water 70 foot into the air, numerous sports courts, two off-leash dog parks, and a Green Market selling fresh produce each Saturday morning between March and November. Music Midtown takes place at Piedmont Park each September and features a lineup of some of the biggest names in music. Another popular annual event at Piedmont Park is the Atlanta Dogwood Festival in April. This large celebration of the arts showcases the work of more than 260 diverse artists.
